Chaplaincy and Wellbeing Support Groups

The vital work of Chaplaincy has always relied on community support and partnership from people like you. For ACCESS ministries Chaplains, community support and partnership is expressed through a Chaplaincy and Wellbeing Support Group – a model which provides local support, pastoral care and financial sustainability for the Chaplaincy and Wellbeing program in the school.

The purposes of a Chaplaincy and Wellbeing Support Group are:

  • To provide pastoral support for the Chaplain
  • To help raise awareness and funds for the Chaplaincy and Wellbeing program
  • To provide community volunteer support for school programs through Chaplaincy

What Can You Do?

Ways that you can be involved in supporting the Chaplaincy and Wellbeing program in your school include (but are not limited to):

Helping to form, or becoming a member of your local Chaplaincy and Wellbeing Support Group – your ideas and expertise could be just what they need;
Getting to know your Chaplain – make time to talk to them & learn what they do.
Giving a financial gift (once off, or regular and ongoing) in support of the program (donate now);
Volunteering to help in a program at the school; breakfast program, mentoring, lunchtime activities/clubs, etc;
Promoting and supporting community-based fundraising events in support of the program;
Facilitating at least one fundraising event per year in support of the program;
Offering pastoral and prayer support to your local Chaplain.

The Future

School Chaplaincy and Wellbeing programs are deeply valued by the thousands of school communities around Australia that have chosen to engage the services of a School Chaplain in recent years. However, these programs are best strengthened and sustained when they are fully supported by the members of their wider community.

It is our hope that every school containing an ACCESS ministries Chaplain will be underpinned by a local Chaplaincy and Wellbeing Support Group. Please consider ways in which you and your community (church, faith group, business, agency, etc.) might proactively support your local Chaplain and school community.

If you would like to participate at this level, please email your details to the Regional Support Manager in your region and they will connect you with a local Chaplaincy and Wellbeing Support Group.
