Most of our ACCESS ministries chaplains are encouraged and supported by their own local Chaplaincy Committees. Comprised of members representing the local school, church and community, the Committee is a critical element to the ongoing success of the chaplaincy appointment that they administer. Acting as a sounding board and a support group for prayer and fundraising, our Committees are an integral part of the wider ACCESS ministries network.

A significant number of our chaplains rely on the Chaplaincy Committee for the necessary funding to ensure their full-time employment. The National School Chaplaincy Program (NSCP), funds on average 2 days of paid employment each week, and many schools cannot meet the additional funds required for a full-time placement. The Chaplaincy Committees seek to bridge that gap by arranging and conducting fundraising activities within their local communities.

We want to hear from you

Each year at ACCESS ministries, we are overwhelmed by the unique, creative and simply fun ideas that our committees come up with to keep their chaplains in paid employment. We would love to hear from your committee too. Please call or email us with photos or stories from your fundraising events so that we can share them as an encouragement to our staff and to other Victorian committees.

If your chaplaincy committee requires some inspiration click here for some new fundraising ideas and strategies.

Our Chaplaincy Committees often have vacancies and are actively seeking new members to assist in the important work of prayer, encouragement and fundraising for chaplains across Victoria. If you would like to participate at this level, please email your details to the Field Support Manager in your region.

It is hard work for our Chaplaincy Committees to raise the necessary funds to maintain the chaplaincy programs in their local schools. If you would like to donate to keep chaplains at work call us on 1800 063 341. You may like to donate to a specific school or region that we can distribute on your behalf.
