Director of Christian Education Services - Rev Denise Nicholls

Prepared by her past vocational experience in school and parish life, Denise’s role of overseeing our CRE program is about intersections, the place where faith and education meet.

Denise manages the recruitment, training and endorsement of new CRE teachers and arranges Professional Development programs for over 3000 existing CRE teaching staff. Overseeing 40 support officers and 3 field support managers with the assistance of her in-house staff team, Denise ensures that over 100,000 Victorian students receive quality, engaging teaching from highly trained and enthusiastic CRE teachers.

In her own words Denise says,

‘My hope is for every student in every government school throughout Victoria to have the opportunity to participate in CRE and experience God’s love.’

Denise has extensive history within the education sector, as an educator in the state school system of NSW for 10 years.

Ordained into the Anglican ministry in the Diocese of Sydney in 1994, Denise served with two parishes, then as Chaplain at a large Anglican school before she commenced her appointment with ACCESS ministries in 2007.

Adopting Melbourne as her new hometown, Denise is exploring new theatre and jazz venues to channel her passion for music while enjoying Melbourne’s many restaurants with friends.
